Dataset of Dentists' Hand Instrument Operations and Trajectories During Dental Surgery

In current dental surgeries, the precision and efficiency of a dentist's hand operations directly impact the surgical outcome. However, maintaining precise operations and reducing error rates during surgery is challenging. Some existing surgical robots and training systems often lack sufficient data to provide accurate support and feedback. This dataset aims to capture and analyze the hand operation postures and trajectories of dentists during surgery to improve surgical precision. The data is collected in a real surgical environment using high frame rate cameras dedicated to surgical procedures, ensuring the capture of subtle operations. Data annotation is conducted by professionals with a medical background, ensuring accuracy after multiple rounds of annotation, consistency checks, and expert reviews. Data preprocessing includes video frame clipping, denoising, and keypoint annotation, eventually stored in a well-organized sequence format. The annotation team comprises 10 experts with dental experience, ensuring professional and reliable annotations.
